PES President Poul Nyrup Rasmussen: "New majority in the Parliament = Barroso will not be President"

We want the European Union to take a new direction. We want a European Union that does what is needed to create new jobs and tackle the economic and climate crisis in a decisive way. That is why the PES cannot support Barroso as President of the European Commission. He represents the conservative majority that has failed Europe over the last five years. He represents the Europe that puts markets before people.

European Day of Action: Making Europe the leading force against climate change

The Party of European Socialists member parties and activists are campaigning on climate change this Saturday 16 May in at least 15 countries from Finland to Malta and from Porto to Ostend. You can find more details about this Day of Action on the PES election blog. This is the PES' third day of action following European campaigning days on Europe Day May 9th on the theme 'New Social Europe – giving people a fairer deal' and on International Women's Day on 8 March.

Still two more weeks to participate in the fun photo competition to put the "Manifesto in every corner of Europe". At the deadline, on Monday 1st June, The photo with the most votes will win flights, accommodation and entrance to the European Election Party of the PES in Brussels on Sunday 7th June.
